Going Green by Going Paperless

"Going green" is a common trend in all industries. For associations and certifying bodies, that hold meetings and produce printed materials, reducing paper is a priority. We talked to one of our printing friends in the industry, Omnipress, who shared a document on reducing paper that we thought you might find helpful, "Green Printing Tips…14 Eco-Friendly Ways to Produce Conference Materials."

Here's a sampling of tips.

  • Choose finished sizes for your printed materials that make the most efficient use of standard paper sizes.

  • Work with designers & printers early in the process to achieve the most environmentally friendly design.

  • Print on recycled paper containing a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste.

  • Request online proofing of files whenever possible. With today’s technology this should suffice for most printed materials.

  • Or… go “paperless” or limit the use of printed pre-event marketing materials when possible by using email or enhanced features on event websites.
