Social Networking Sites - Share your Tips

Certification programs are using social networking sites to enhance communication among their certificants and help them create a “human” touch with other professionals in the same industry. Social networking sites are certainly not a new concept, but they’re definitely becoming more and more popular. Like other marketing outlets, social networking works when you have good content, the readers trust you, and you invest in the project.
Here are some tips:

  • Make sure the community you create is always thriving. As you get your social network site going, you may need to create content, post questions, or encourage use of it until other certificants get more involved.

  • Consider picking a few contributors to help write/post content while the site is building momentum.

  • Make sure you’re clear on what the goal of the networking site is and how you want your certificants to use it.

  • The content has to be valuable for users to participate.

  • Reward the behavior you want to encourage by recognizing consistent contributors or giving them another reward.

If you have other tips, please share them with our readers.
